Disney Inspired Dinner & A Movie: Fantasia

Tonight we are featuring Disney's Fantasia!

Now, Fantasia was one of my favorites when I was little. I have always been a HUGE fan of color and classical music, and this movie beautifully combines the two. My favorites in this film are Sorcerer Mickey, the fish from the "Nutcracker Suite", the "Pastoral Symphony" (I have always loved Greek culture, and everything in this segment reminds me of the retro "My Little Pony", and the hippo and alligator from "Dance of the Hours". Warning for mommies/daddies/guardians of tinys- there is some nudity in this film, (the fairies, centaurettes, and demons), so you may or may not want to forward through those brief segments. Otherwise, the film is a gorgeous display of classical music and artistry.

I'm so glad that I get to debut this beautiful film the same week as St. Patrick's Day, because there is so much color and beautiful illustrations and music in it. The whole movie is basically one, big rainbow of entertainment. When I was preparing the menu for this meal, I got to thinking about all the color in it, and all the beautiful color in nature, and decided to make it a healthy, vegetarian-friendly meal. *Note for you vegetarians out there- I did use dairy products (cheese and sour cream), but the rest of the meal is egg and meat free! Also I should add that this is by far the EASIEST/QUICKEST meal I have prepared in a long time and would be so much fun to make with kids!

Tonight we are having:

Sorcerer Mickey's Broomsticks (they look just like the food!)
Yensid's Sorcerer's Hat's Stars (yummy and celestial!)
The Nutcracker Suite's Dancing Mushrooms (they look just like the food!)
The Nutcracker Suite's Fairy, Fish, and Flower Salad (different lettuces for the different seasons)
The Rite of Spring's Quinoa Dinosaur Eggs (like veggie chicken nuggets!)
Pastoral Symphony's Horsey Food (b/c, what horse doesn't love veggies?!)
Baby Cupid's Lovestruck Fruit Dip (matches their hair and you will LOVE it!)
